Mid-Construction Update
Construction has been progressing steadily at the West Newton Armory over the past several months. Over the winter, we reached a major milestone with framing completed for all four stories of the new addition, the portion of the building that will house all residential units. If you passed by the site in January or February, you may have seen some of the prefabricated wall panels being craned into place —an exciting step as the building’s final form begins to take shape.
As this project advances in parallel with the neighboring development at 1149–1151 Washington Street and the city’s recent pilot improvements along Washington Street, we’re encouraged by the positive transformation taking place across the neighborhood. We’re thrilled to be mid-way through construction, and looking ahead towards our end goal of delivering 43 high-quality, affordable housing units and building out the future Metro West Collaborative Development headquarters.
Schedule and Upcoming Lottery
We anticipate completing construction by the end of the year and will be leasing units through a lottery process which will take place towards the end of the year. We’ll be sharing more details on the lottery process over the summer, which will be advertised on this website, the Metro West CD website, and HousingNavigatorMA.org.
